Is there a waiting period to purchase a firearm?

However, individuals who hold a Florida Concealed Weapons License are exempt from this waiting period and may purchase firearms at their convenience.

In addition to federal law, Florida law prohibits persons who:
- Are adjudicated delinquent of a crime that would have been a felony if committed by an adult until the age of 24 or until record is expunged.
- Receive “Adjudication Withheld” on any felony or on a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence and three years has not yet lapsed since the completion of sentencing provisions.
- were recently arrested for a potentially disqualifying crime which has not been dismissed or disposed of in court.
Can I buy a gun when I have a medical marijuana card or use medical marijuana?
Federal law classifies marijuana as a Schedule I controlled substance under the Controlled Substances Act. As such, it is illegal for anyone who is an "unlawful user of medical marijuana" to possess or receive firearms or ammunition, and it is also illegal for anyone to sell firearms or ammunition to someone whom they know to be an unlawful user of medical marijuana.
